Preparing for an accreditation review
Informing senior administration of an upcoming site visit
Please inform the Office of the Associate Vice-President Academic, as much in advance as possible, of the dates during which an accreditation visit will be taking place and send along any associated materials, including schedules and self-studies. Contact the Office of the Associate Vice-President Academic to make an appointment to further discuss topics and themes for the site visit.
Arranging meetings with senior administrators
Please schedule meetings with the provost, vice-presidents and associate vice-president academic (if required or recommended by your accrediting body and in keeping with their procedures for site visits) as early as possible, and work in conjunction with their assistants regarding meeting logistics.
A minimum of 2-weeks prior to the meeting (or as requested by the AVP or VP), please provide briefing materials including the outcomes/themes/questions for the meeting (usually available from the accrediting body) and any contextual information the program feels is relevant to help the interviewee support the program through the accreditation process.
In advance of your next accreditation site visit (or within 6-weeks thereafter), please follow the procedures inÌý (login required)
Accreditation support and resources
Curriculum consultation
Departments or programs in the early stages of a program review or accreditation process can schedule a consultation with the senior educational developer, curriculum in the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) to take advantage of CLT’s resources to design learning outcomes and map the curriculum.
Analytics support
Dal Analytics works with academic units to generate program-level data dashboards and may also, upon request and consultation, provide customized data for programs under review.
Records and reporting
The Office of the Associate Vice-President Academic maintains records of the status of programs subject to accreditation at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ and prepares an annual report for the Board of Governors Academic and Student Affairs Committee. To support this work, copies of program accreditation documentation (e.g., official results, updates, accreditation guidelines, self-study materials) should be sent to the Office of the Associate Vice-President Academic.
