Who's Who in Residence
When you look around your residence, youll see many faces both student and staff. Wed like to introduce your residence team and talk a little about their roles within your community.
Residence Life Managers (RLMs)
- Full-time professional staff who live in residence and develop educational, social, and personal growth programs.
- Train and supervise community team members.
- Advise and counsel students.
The Residence Support Coordinator (RSC)
- The RSC is a dedicated health professional embedded in Residence Life to engage with students.泭
- The RSC plays a key role in supporting students who are experiencing challenges,泭crisis泭and/or emergencies and navigating available resources.

Community Assistant Team (CATs)
- Student leaders who live in residence and help create a strong residence community.
- CATs are responsible for facilitating community meetings and hosting fun activities and events for students in residence and on-campus.泭
- They also provide mentorship, peer counselling, facilitate referrals and other offer other support to students living in Residence.
Community Safety Team (CSTs)
- Student staff who may live in or outside residence and work to promote a positive and safe residence community
- CST duties include performing rounds within residence buildings to support students during incidents ranging from mental health and first aid emergencies, to community standard violations.泭
- CSTs also support welcome home desks and guest sign-in services at residence building entrances during anticipated busy periods.
Senior Community Leader (SCLs)泭
- SCLs泭work with the Residence Life Management Team to provide guidance and support to the Community Assistant Team and Community Safety Team.
- SCLs support community development, mentor student leaders and act as additional first responders to incidents when on-duty.
Community Mentors泭
- Community Mentors泭in residence are upper-year students who formally support first-year student transition to university and on-campus living.
- Community Mentors create fun opportunities for students to connect as a community in collaboration with Community Assistant Team.
AV整氈窒 Medical Response Team (DMCRT)
- DMCRTs are泭highly trained student volunteer medical responders
- DMCRT is equipped with advanced first aid certification and mental health first aid.泭
- They work collaboratively with Dal Security to respond to incidents requiring first aid, and work closely with Student Health and Wellness to promote harm reduction and wellness strategies in residence.
Assistant Directors, Facilities Operations
- Full-time staff who are responsible for the year-round operation of residence buildings.
- Oversee Front Desk, Commissionaires and Custodial staff.
- Priority is to maintain a comfortable and safe living environment while ensuring regular maintenance and timely repairs in the building.
Front-desk staff
- Full and part-time staff who are available to students 24-hours-a-day at Howe, Risley, Shirreff, LeMarchant, and Gerard halls.
- The first point of contact for residence visitors.
- Sort mail, serve as a message centre for residents, take maintenance requests and answer questions from both residents and guests.
Dining hall and food services staff
- Aramark, AV整氈窒s Food Services partner, prepares a wide variety of quality food options on an all-you-care-to-eat basis.
- Full-time dietitian available to meet with students.
- Open door policy for students drop by their office anytime.
Custodial and maintenance services (utility services personnel)
- Full-time staff help maintain the cleanliness of the building.
- If you have a question or concern regarding custodial service, please contact your Facilities Manager.
- Monitor the maintenance request forms you submit and ensure repair jobs are addressed promptly.
Residence Office
- Full- and part-time staff who handle administrative functions from offices at 6230 Coburg Road (traditional/non-traditional residences).
- Process applications and room assignments for all buildings and handle all residence deposits.
- Manage holiday stays, exam extensions, and early arrivals.
