NSERC‑Connect Grants

Posted by Danielle Andres on March 23, 2018 in Announcements

Important Information from NSERC

Effective February 1, 2018, have been revised to combine Levels2 and3 and to broaden the scope of eligible activities.

Please note that notwithstanding the recent announcement in the 2018 Federal Budget that NSERC is to reduce and consolidate a number of its programs, for the time being there are no changes and we continue to administer and fulfill current awards and to offer the full suite of partnership programs (Connect Grants included).

  • Objectives

The objectives for this grant have changed. It is important to review the changes to ensure that the application addresses and meets the new goals.

  • New Application Form

Applicants must use the newly modified application form (form 401). Old application forms will not be accepted and the application will be considered incomplete until a new version is submitted. This will delay the evaluation process.

  • CCV (Canadian Common CV)

We cannot accept a DRAFT CCV (Canadian Common CV). Any CCV submitted with the application must be the “final version”. If the top of the first page indicates that the version is a draft (example below), the applicant must go back to the Online Research Portal and follow the instructions to submit a final version via the History page. Applications submitted with a draft CCV will be considered incomplete. This will delay the evaluation process.

  • Level 1 and 2 Applications

Requests of $5,000 or less must be submitted at least four weeks before the activity. Requests exceeding $5,000 must be submitted at least 12 weeks before the proposed activity in order to ensure that there is sufficient time to finalize details and issue invitations following NSERC’s decision.

  • Level 2 Applications

Typical funding requests range from $1,000 to $5,000. For large-scale activities, requests of up to $25,000 may be considered. Funds must be used within the 12 months following the award start date. Potential applicants must discuss their proposed activities with staff before applying.
