Indigenous Innovation Initiative

The aims to remedy resource gaps and assist in building capacity for Indigenous innovators, launching Indigenous innovations, and transitioning innovations to scale for the benefit of all Canadians.

The Request for Proposals for Advancing Gender Equality through Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship is now live. This Grand Challenge seeks bold ideas that will advance equality for Indigenous peoples across Canada, including First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples in urban, rural, remote and Northern regions.

Approaches must be grounded in Indigenous community, culture and ways of knowing and being and apply a gender lens in its considerations on equality. Indigenous women and gender diverse innovators and Indigenous women and gender diverse-led projects will be given priority.

Projects can apply for seed funding amounts of $100,000 - $250,000 to develop and test their bold ideas.

from all sectors and industries will be considered, including but not limited to: health, social, arts and fashion, technology, science, business, industry, food security, hospitality and tourism, education, justice, environment, and clean energy.

There is a two-stage process to apply:
