If you are providing course readings for your students using Library Reserves, it is important that you consider the following information.Ìý All Library Reserve requests need to be completed using the online.Ìý Instructions can be found on the page.Ìý
NOTE: Part-time Academics – You will not be able to complete the online reserve form until your NetID is active.Ìý In the meantime, please drop in to the Access Services desk at the Library to complete a paper request.
Library Reserves will allow you to make your course readings easily available to your students while respecting copyright requirements and AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ licensing agreements.
Items not held by the AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Libraries may be ordered in.Ìý However, delivery time can range from 3 working days to several weeks depending on the source and types of material. So, please remember to submit your reserve requests as early as possible. Reserve items will be processed in the order in which requests are received.
Fair Dealing Guidelines for Reserve Materials
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý All copying must be in compliance with the Canadian Copyright Act and the AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Fair Dealing Guidelines (links to Library reserves cannot replace the purchase of books, course packs or other published materials)
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Library reserves cannot replace the purchase of books, course packs or other published materials
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý 1 copy/25 students may be placed on reserve, to a maximum of 3 copies
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Students may make 1 copy of each item on reserve for personal research and study
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Excerpts (usually up to 10%) from copyright-protected materials may be posted to the AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ course management site. This applies to readings, audio and video.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Library electronic content (databases, ebooks, ejournals) is covered by the terms of the subscription/purchase contract. Whenever possible Library eReserves staff will provide persistent links to this type of content.
