First Aid training on campus ‑ upcoming dates

Beginning this September, Extended Learning will be offering Standard and Emergency First Aid Training sessions with instructor Emily Blacklock. These sessions are open to faculty, staff and students.

Dates
FULL Monday, September 13th – Emergency First Aid
Monday, September 20th - Emergency First Aid (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) – 8 spots remaining
Tuesday, October 12th – Emergency First Aid (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) - 6 spots remaining
Monday, November 8th – Emergency First Aid (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) - 2 spots remaining
Monday, November 8th and Tuesday, November 9th – Standard First Aid (8:30 am – 4:30 pm both days)

September sessions will take place in the Riverview Room, Jenkins Hall. All other sessions will take place in room 254 of Haley Institute with a maximum of 10 people per session. Further dates will be added as needed.

Fees
Emergency First Aid - $84 per person
Standard First Aid - $120 per person

Details
Emergency First Aid: This course is recognized by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education. Emergency First Aid: Includes CPR-C certification (Adult, Baby and Child CPR). Emergency First Aid is for people who require a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, rescue breathing, CPR, choking, respiratory emergencies (allergies, hyperventilation and asthma), managing severe bleeding, heart attack and stroke, abdominal injury, burns and facial injuries.

Standard First Aid: This course is recognized by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education. Includes CPR-C certification. Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid including: spinal injuries, heat and cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, seizures, diabetes and poisoning.
