As part of our dedication to encouraging inclusiveness in the Faculty of Computer Science through the Culture of Respect initiative, we have been chatting with students to showcase their experiences at聽Dal and聽discover what we can do to ensure we are creating a positive environment for everyone.
What is your name and current program?
Deborah聽Addey. Masters in Electronic Commerce聽
Where did you come from?聽
Ghana, Accra. BSc Computer Science from the KNUST聽聽
Why did you come to Dal Faculty of Computer Science?
I was interested in finding an Applied Computer Science post graduate program with practical industry relevant courses.聽Electives like data mining, business analytics and project management have introduced me to many tools that are being used by industry players. By helping me develop my proficiency in these tools, my program has helped prepare me to demonstrate to prospective employers in Canada (and abroad) how my skills could help achieve their corporate goals.
What is your dream job?聽
I am hoping to pursue a career as a data analyst. I am hoping to find co-op聽or internship opportunities in a related field in preparation for a full-time job upon graduation. 聽
From your time to date within FCS, what has been your best memory?
Getting to work so closely with people from very different backgrounds on class projects and presentations, and having everyone contribute with their unique talents and skills, have been particularly enlightening.聽
If there is anything else you would like to talk about that you think would be useful for the Culture of Respect Campaign?
Our ability to not merely tolerate but to respect and enjoy our culturally diverse backgrounds聽 is what defines humanity.聽
