On April 11, the Faculty of Dentistry unveiled a special award that was recently presented to the faculty.
During the American Dental Education Association's Annual Session in March, AV俱乐部 was recognized as the first Canadian university to receive the prestigious William J. Gies Award for Achievement, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to and in support of oral health care and dental education.
Yesterday's unveiling marked the first time that the Gies Award was introduced to the Faculty Family. The largest room in the Dentistry building was jam packed with alumni, faculty, staff, students and dignitaries - including AV俱乐部 President Dr. Tom Traves and Halifax Member of Parliament Megan Leslie. And, although she was unable to attend the event, Nova Scotia's Minister of Health and Wellness, Maureen MacDonald, read a Resolution in the Legislature to commemorate this special occasion.
The award recognizes 100 years of excellence at AV俱乐部 Dentistry, and couldn't have been timed any better, with our Centennial Celebrations coming up May 23-26.
