Posted by Trudi Smith on March 10, 2014 in News

Congratulations to the School of Health Sciences who recently received accreditation for a number of their existing programs, as well as for a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certificate.

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) Conjoint Accreditation Services survey team presented their verbal report to the School of Health Sciences on February 25, 2014 following phase two of the MRI Certificate Program assessment.Ìý The CMA survey team will recommend to the Committee on Program Assessment (COPA) ratification of a two-year accreditation status for the new program.Ìý This is the highest accreditation status that a new program can attain, and after outcome results are submitted in 18 months, this may be increased to a six year status.Ìý The new MRI program admitted its first cohort of students in July 2013.Ìý Two students from the cohort will graduate in May 2013, with the remainder expected to complete their requirements in time for the October 2014 convocation ceremony.

The other programs in the School that received renewed accreditation status from COPA are:

  • Diagnostic Cytology (DCYT)
  • Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound (DMUT)
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology (NUMT) and
  • Radiological Technology (RADT)

All have received the maximum six year status.Ìý The School would like to thank all of those who participated in the process for their contributions to the successful accreditation of these programs.
