Dean's Message: November 2016

Posted by Alice Aiken on October 31, 2016 in News

Dear friends,

As we pass the halfway mark of my first semester at Dal, it seems fitting to be launching this newsletter. During my first few months, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with first year students in all programs, to get to know faculty and staff and to meet some of our local alumni at last month’s Homecoming. But for such a large and dispersed Faculty that includes students studying entirely online, a program based in Yarmouth and alumni spread around the globe, we needed a broader means of connecting.

I hope this new tri-annual e-newsletter, coupled with our recently launched Twitter account (), will provide an opportunity for ongoing engagement. We’ve aimed to produce a newsletter that tells our stories and shares the successes of our students, researchers and alumni across the health and social service fields. As the most profession-diverse health faculty in Canada, we want to share news and achievements of interest to anyone working in the realm of health and social care. We welcome your feedback on any of the feature articles or columns.

On campus, we are gearing up to celebrate the School of Social Work’s 75th anniversary which will launch with a Human Rights Conference and School Social on December 9th. Within the Dean’s Office, we are busy preparing for a strategic planning process which will launch later this fall. We’ll share the results of this process in Spring 2017.

Thanks for reading!
