Congratulations to faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends on their recent achievements:
- Dr. Brad Meisner (School of Health and Human Performance) was recently elected as Chair of the Division of Educational Gerontology for the Canadian Association of Gerontology.
- Dr. Brenda Sabo (Nursing) was presented with the University-wide Academic Innovation Award by President Richard Florizone at a ceremony held on November 1, 2016.
- Social Work alumni Darren Howie (BSW '07) and Winnifred Benton (BSW '91, MSW '97) were honoured by the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers for their contributions to the profession. Winnifred received the Ron Stratford Memorial Award for her commitment to community development; and Darren received the David William Connors Memorial Award for his work with the Phoenix Youth Programs. Read more about Winnifred and Darren on the
- Dean Alice Aiken was named the inaugural Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research Fellow at the organization's annual forum in Vancouver on November 21.
- Students in Health Sciences, Human Communication Disorders, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Medicine and Dentistry organized a successful For the Health of It event on November 26, raising over $40,000 for Mobile Outreach Street Health. Occupational Therapy took home the prize for best overall performance.
