AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ students

Who can apply

Bachelor of Engineering students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply to the co-op program:

  • Has a CGPA of at least 2.3
  • Will have completed the Diploma in Engineering by April 30th. 
  • Has at least four study terms remaining in their program 
  • Is eligible to work in Canada (international students with a valid study permit must apply for a co-op work permit)
  • Is proficient in oral and written English
  • Is motivated and capable of handling the extra work load of participating in a job competition while carrying a full course load

How to apply

Register for the Online Co-op Orientation Course (ENGI 8890) by mid-January.

How to be admitted

  1. Complete the Online Co-op Orientation Course (ENGI 8890) by mid-April. Course access instructions will be emailed to you by the end of January. Students who register for the course and are not admitted to the Co-op Program can have the course fee refunded.
  2. Obtain the Diploma in Engineering by April 30th. Students completing the Diploma in Engineering after April 30 will not have access to co-op job postings, but may choose to conduct a self-directed job search for the fall term. All self-obtained co-op positions must be approved for Co-op by mid-September.
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.3 as of April 30.

Late Admission

Students who do not work during the fall term must contact askcoop@dal.ca to see if they are eligible for late admission to the Co-op Program.

Associated university students

Who can apply

  • Will have completed the Diploma in Engineering by April 30th
  • Has at least four study terms remaining in their program
  • Is eligible to work in Canada (international students with a valid study permit must apply for a co-op work permit)
  • Is proficient in oral and written English
  • Is motivated and capable of handling the extra workload of participating in a job competition while carrying a full course load

Application to Co-op must be made 8 months prior to the first work term which is from September to December.

You cannot apply to Co-op until you have applied to AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, which should be done nine months before your first work term.  Having a ‘placement’ in an engineering program does not constitute admission to AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, which is a separate step that all associated university students must complete.

  2. Register for the Online Co-op Orientation Course (ENGI 8890) by mid-January (Instructions will be sent by email)
