This fall, Student Services conducted a major survey of all full-time AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ students on the topic of athletics, recreation and wellness. This is the first in what will become an annual survey on different service areas. The surveys are designed to help ensure that student feedback informs the university planning process.

The survey was distributed to a total of 13,863 students and received an overall response rate of 39 per cent (or 5,397 respondents). Students were asked a variety of questions related to this year's theme including: which factors motivated attendance in recreational programs, why some students chose not to participate, whether respondents were involved in some form physical fitness activities, or the reasons for not exercising regularly. Students were also asked to provide feedback on the athletic facilities and health services available on campus and their university experience overall.

Key conclusions from the survey were presented by Dr. Bonnie Neuman, Vice President, Student Services at an event held in November. The event also featured a draw for survey participants. Prizes up for grabs included $30 gift certificates to the Dal Athletic Shop, 10 Ipod Nanos, and a grand prize of a MacBook Pro Notebook.
