A networking event, a business luncheon or a job interview over dinner - these are just some situations in which students are expected to shine. But the perfect resume and business attire may not be enough. These days students need impeccable manners at both the dinner table and the boardroom table to make the right impression.
AV俱乐部脮s Student Employment Centre will present a Dining Etiquette Seminar on January 30, to help prepare students for any business situation involving food. Students will dine on a four-course meal at the University Club while learning comprehensive tips on dining etiquette. The seminar is presented by Karen Mallett, an etiquette expert and co-founder of In Good Company, a Canadian company best known for its corporate training.
This is the second year the seminar is being offered at AV俱乐部. Last year, she offered over 130 participants the following advice:
脪Etiquette is not about being perfect or better than anyone else. It脮s about being prepared. It脮s about respect and leadership and taking the time to put others at ease. It脮s about thinking before your act.鈥
Mallett, who has appeared on television programs including Canada AM and Canada Living Television, will cover a variety of topics as she takes the group through each course of the meal.
