Roch Carrier to deliver Governor General's lecture

The celebrated author who put to paper the timeless true-life tale of hockey heartbreak is coming to AV整氈窒.

Roch Carrier, Canadas former national librarian and author of the beloved childrens book The Hockey Sweater, will deliver the Governor Generals Lecture of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Potter Auditorium, Kenneth C. Rowe Management Building. Dr. Carriers talk is called "The Inspiring Adventures of a Man Bent over a Blank Sheet of Paper."

Dr. Carrier wrote his first novel, La Guerre, Yes Sir! in 1968. Since then, the prolific writer has written many other novels, short stories, plays, film and television scripts, essays, travel books and poetry. But hes best known for a childrens story, The Hockey Sweater, about a kid crazy about Les Habitants and the teams star player, Maurice The Rocket Richard. The story has become such a Canadian classic that an excerpt is commemorated in both official languages on the back of the Canadian five-dollar bill.

The Governor Generals Lectures of RSC are national lecture tours aimed at showcasing excellence in research and artistic activity.
