Susan Spence Wach has been appointed Associate Vice-President Academic Programs and Keith Taylor the Associate Vice-President Academic Outreach and International Programs. Both appointments are effective immediately for five-year terms.
Susan Spence Wach joined the AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Faculty of Medicine as Associate Dean, Health Systems and Policy in 2002 and teaches in the Division of Medical Education. She is very experienced in academic administration having been Associate Vice President Research and Academic Affairs (2000-2002), Assistant Vice President Marketing (1996) and Assistant Vice President Health Affairs (1992-1996) at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center of the University of Texas. Earlier, Susan also held a variety of appointments at St. Thomas' Hospital in London, England and at the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Science Centre at the University of Alberta.
While at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, she has been active on Senate and many other committees and projects, the most notable being the Faculty of Medicine's new program in New Brunswick and the expansion of the Medical program here in Halifax. A former winner of the Oxford Marathon and still running today, Susan is known for her commitment endurance in leading diverse groups to consensus.
Keith Taylor, as former Dean of Science and Acting Associate Vice-President Academic Outreach and International Programs, has extensive academic experience. Prior to joining AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ he led an impressive outreach program by the University of Saskatchewan in high school mathematics. As Dean of Science at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, Dr. Taylor has pursued similar projects and has also developed considerable experience in creating international partnerships to deliver joint academic programs with a diverse range of universities.
