Kristen Vandenberg, swimming
Kristen Vandenberg, a fourth-year Marine Biology student from London, Ont., had a huge weekend in P.E.I. at the 2010 AUS Swim Championships, where she earned AUS Swimmer of the Meet honours. She claimed the 400 metre free, and in a time of 8:52.38 captured the 800 metre freestyle and broke Nancy Garapick’s AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ record that has stood since 1981. Ms. Vandenberg is currently ranked second in CIS in the 800 metre free and was also a member of the winning 4x200 metre free relay team.
David Sharpe, swimming
Swimmer David Sharpe, in just his first year with the Tigers, was awarded AUS Swimmer of the Meet for his performance at the 2010 AUS Swim Championships. He won all four individual events he competed in and was also part of the three winning relay teams from AV¾ãÀÖ²¿. In the 200 fly and the 100 and 200 metre backstroke events, Mr. Sharpe broke his own AUS records that he set earlier this season. For his incredible performance, he was also named AUS Rookie of the Meet.
Mr. Sharpe is a first year science student who hails from Halifax.
