Volleyball
Looking to continue their perfect record, the women’s volleyball team took to the Dalplex court against Memorial this past weekend. Friday’s game saw the Tigers claw back from a 1-0 set deficit to earn the 3-2 victory, Alexandra Kosanov had 25 assists and Maggie Li led Dal with 14 kills. Any signs of rust were gone on Saturday’s game, as the black and gold cruised to a 3-1 win. Alexandra Kosanov once again paced the black and gold with 29 assists, while Courtney Giesbrecht and Lauren Smith each reached double-digits in digs.
The women’s team plays at Acadia Friday night before returning home to host Saint Mary’s at Sexton Campus Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m.
A winless Memorial team proved little challenge for the men’s volleyball squad, who won 3-1 Friday night courtesy Angus Rhuland’s 51 assists and Kenneth Rauwerda’s 18 kills. The Tigers wasted little time Saturday as well, sweeping Memorial 3-0 on the strength of Daniel Bremner’s 14 kills and 9 digs.

The men also had a successful weekend with a total of 11 qualifiers. Leading the way with first-place finishes were first-year Kyle Watson (400m, 1500m freestyle) and fifth-year Dmitry Shulga (200m individual medley) who both set new AUS records. For the women, new AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ records were set in all three breaststroke events by Paige Crowell. Twenty of the Tigers are off to compete in the Canada Cup meet in Toronto this weekend.Â

Looking to rebound from two tough losses, the men’s basketball team came out buzzing Friday in Cape Breton, winning 106-102 in overtime. Jumol Mullings led the charge with 24 points, five rebounds, and six assists. With their first win under their belts the team hoped to return home with four points, but Cape Breton surged in the second game, winning 97-74.
