On Friday, with Presidents Emeritus Tom Traves and Howard Clark both in attendance, Richard Florizone joined their ranks as he was officially installed as the AV¾ãÀÖ²¿'s 11th president and vice-chancellor.
Installation, a long-standing tradition in the academy, is a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of a university president's time in office. After being introduced by his predecessor, Dr. Traves, Dr. Florizone was installed by Jim Spatz, chair of Dal's Board of Governors, and AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Chancellor Fred Fountain. He recited a pledge to uphold the university mission, donned his AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ academic robes for the first time, and then addressed the crowd gathered in the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium.
