AV俱乐部鈥檚 200 years of achievement have been built on support from its communities, including countless donors and industry partners over the years.
The university鈥檚 200th anniversary celebration is no different, with several companies and organizations 鈥 locally and nationally 鈥 stepping up to help make the celebrations possible.
鈥淲e are pleased to have such a wide range of community partners supporting our 200th anniversary celebrations,鈥 says Peter Fardy, vice-president of advancement. 鈥淚t鈥檚 through their generous support that we鈥檙e able to have the kinds of engaging, inspiring events that not only align with our academic mission, but allow us to start to dream about what Dal鈥檚 third century has in store.鈥
Some of the supporters are playing very specific roles in the year鈥檚 events. for example, is the official airline for helping bring guest speakers to campus during Dal鈥檚 200th year. And this week鈥檚 Belong Forum with Rick Hansen has as a presenting sponsor.
And many of the supporters have long-standing relationships with the university. sponsors the Ethics in Action case competition in Management, for example, which this year will present the Scotiabank Ethical Leadership Award to Lieutenant-General (Ret鈥檇) The Honorable Rom茅o A. Dallaire. not only employs many Dal graduates (particularly from Engineering), but its donations to Dal鈥檚 IDEA Project helped establish the new Michelin Creation Lab on Sexton Campus. The is a regular supporter of the annual DPMG conference on campus. And has funded research and sponsored sporting events on campus, in addition to founder John Risley鈥檚 $25-million personal donation towards the Dal-led Ocean Frontier Institute.
鈥淲e are extremely fortunate to have a world-class university on our doorstep, generating high quality ocean research that helps us understand our species and their environment, as well as educating our future leaders on the importance of sustainability and protecting our oceans,鈥 says Christine Penney, the company's vice president of sustainability and public affairs.
There are also three media partners who are helping amplify Dal 200 activities. , for example, is helping empower the Year of Belonging and its Belong Forum series. (CBC personalities have served as the moderators at each Belong Forum.) is helping present AV俱乐部 Originals series, publishing profiles of influential Dal individuals each and every week through the year. And the worked with Dal to develop a sponsorship program including content features.
