Re:聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Board of Governors Chair 聽
We are pleased to share that Cheryl Fraser has been appointed as the new Chair of the AV俱乐部 Board of Governors for a three-year term.
Cheryl, who is the Board鈥檚 current Vice-Chair and has also served as Chair of the Governance and Human Resources Committee, is currently Chief Talent Officer and Vice-President Communications at Crombie REIT. She is a proud Dal alumnus,聽with both a Masters of Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Prior to her current role with Crombie, she held senior executive roles in the federal public service with the Canada Revenue Agency, Correctional Service of Canada, Treasury Board Secretariat and Fisheries and Oceans. She is the current Board Chair of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council and has previously served on the boards of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, Concentra Bank (Wyth Financial), the Aberdeen Health Foundation and the YMCA of Pictou County. She was a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient in 2012 and was named one of the Globe & Mail's Report on Business Top 50 Executives in 2021.
Having already extended his maximum service time on the Board by serving as Chair, current Chair Bob Hanf, K.C. shared at Tuesday鈥檚 Board meeting that he will be completing his time on the Board this month as he pursues new opportunities in his professional career. Bob has served on the Board with distinction for more than a decade. He has made critical contributions to the creation and support of the Emera IDEAhub and Ocean Supercluster as well as the launch of CDL-Atlantic. Stepping into the Chair role in the heart of the pandemic, Bob worked closely with the University Secretariat to keep Board members engaged through an entirely new way of working and collaborating with one another. Most recently, he stewarded AV俱乐部鈥檚 Governance Review that will help shape effective bicameral governance at AV俱乐部 for years to come. Bob鈥檚 contributions to AV俱乐部, including during these past two years as Chair, have been exemplary and his leadership and counsel will be deeply missed.
Board Member and Dal President Deep Saini offered the following message on this chair transition:
As much as Bob鈥檚 contributions to the Board and to AV俱乐部 will be sorely missed, our Board is in excellent hands with Cheryl鈥檚 leadership. She is an accomplished, compassionate business leader with a true appreciation for this university and the work of its students, faculty and staff. She will be a great partner to our leadership team as AV俱乐部 continues to grow its impact in our communities and on our world.
Please join us in congratulating Cheryl on her appointment and in thanking Bob for his service to AV俱乐部.
