Each week this month, we'll be sharing tips on protecting yourself from email scams, phishing and malware. ().
Today's tip: A lack of "tells" or easy giveaways does not rule out an email being a phishing scam. Yes, some phishing scams are unsophisticated asks for your password/login info/credit card details, but some are designed to look like they're coming from a legitimate organization. Remember: 1) Don't share your password via email, and 2) Don't click links in unsolicited email.
Avoiding phishing
   • Delete requests for your password
   • Don’t click links or open attachments in unexpected email
   • Be suspicious of any requests for financial information
   • Do not fill out forms embedded in email messages
   • Keep your web browser and plug-ins up-to-date
   • Avoid clicking links in private messages on social media sites that you were not expecting
