Heather Doyle, Director of Student Services on the Agricultural Campus, has been asked to be a faculty member at the Appreciative Advising Institute in San Antonio, Texas.
The Appreciative Advising institute is a highly interactive, hands on institute that provides participants with practical suggestions for translating the theory of Appreciative Advising into practice. Steeped in the tenets of positive psychology, appreciative Inquiry and motivational theory, Appreciative Advising is positively impacting student retention and outcomes across the United States. The Appreciative Advising Institute is intentionally designed to teach participants the theoretical infrastructure of Appreciative Advising and to provide skills training in implementing this framework, and will be welcoming practitioners from all across the United States and Canada.
Heather holds a BA in Psychology from University of Prince Edward Island and a MEd in Counselling Psychology from Memorial University. As Director of Student Services at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, Agricultural Campus, she oversees the areas of health & wellness, accommodations supports, academic supports and leadership, international, academic and career advising.
She is the first certified Appreciative Advisor in Canada, and works as a sessional lecturer at the University of South Carolina and University of Alberta, teaching the online Appreciative Advising course, and Advising Essentials course respectively. Heather is part of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Consultant & Speakers Series, is a mentor through the NACADA Emerging Leader Program, Chair of the NACADA Canada Interest Group, and member of the NACADA Emerging Leader Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Canadian Advisory Board – College Student Educators International (ACPA), is co-chair of the Professional Advising Interest Group for the Canadian Association of Colleges and University Student Services (CACUSS) and is Chair of the Senior Student Affairs Officers group for the Atlantic Association of College and University Student Services (AACUSS). Heather has presented nationally and internationally, and has been a panelist on a number of webinars in the areas of academic advising, career advising, Appreciative Advising and student success.
