Robbie Burns Day
Robbie Burns was a poet and a lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, and he is celebrated worldwide. He is regarded as a pioneer of the Romantic Movement and after his death became a great source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism.
January 27
International Day of Commemoration in the Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust (UN)
The General Assembly decided that the United Nations will designate January 27 – the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp – as an annual International Day of Commemoration to honour the victims of the Holocaust, and urged Member States to develop educational programs to instill the memory of the tragedy in future generations to prevent genocide from occurring again.Â
