Instructor or Senior Instructor

The School of Public Administration invites applications for a career-stream 100% FTE appointment at the rank of instructor or senior instructor (dependent upon qualifications and experience) commencing August 1, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Necessary qualifications, experience and skills:

• PhD in Public Administration or Political Science, or in the management disciplines with interest in the public sector
• Interest in inter- and cross-disciplinary studies and learning and cross-cultural learning
• Demonstrated ability or potential for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in business, public administration, or related fields.
• A strong interest in professional education and experiential learning and student engagement within and in addition to the formal classroom setting.
• Experience in both on-campus and online teaching

Preferred qualifications, experience and skills:

• Demonstrated experience working with the public sector in both developing and delivering courseware
• Evidence of research ability and promise

This appointment is focused on delivering core required courses within three programs: the Bachelor of Management, the Master of Public Administration and the online Master of Public Administration (Management). This position also includes substantial service such as committee work and coaching students. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and refresh courseware in core areas such as organization design, policy formulation, ethics and governance and other public administration fields in both the on-campus and online environments and at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The School of Public Administration is a leader in research, teaching and professional development in governance, public policy and public sector management and has a strong internship program which includes a publicly sponsored, paid, merit-awarded work term. Our administrative and research staff are proactive in their support for students and faculty. Our faculty are active researchers and, together with sessional instructors, deliver our graduate programs as well as the public administration component of the Bachelor of Management program.

The School is part of the Faculty of Management, which has a commitment to values-based management and interdisciplinary research and learning. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with like-minded colleagues in the sister schools of Business, Information Management, and Resource and Environmental Studies within the Faculty.
