National Patriots’ Day (Journée nationale des patriotes)
A statutory holiday in Québec to honor the rebellion against the British in 1837.
Victoria Day (French: Fête de la Reine)
A federal Canadian public holiday celebrated on the last Monday preceding May 25, in honour of Queen Victoria's birthday.
May 24
Yom Yerushalayim (Israel)
Jerusalem Day commemorates the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967. This day begins on the twenty-eighth day of the month of Iyyar in the Hebrew calendar. (Observance begins at sundown of the previous day.)
May 25
Ascension (W)
The anniversary of Jesus’ ascension into heaven and enthronement as universal sovereign. It comes forty days after Easter.
May 27
Ramaḍān begins
Ramaḍān is the month of fasting (ending with Eid Al Fitr on June 25) during which physically able Muslims do not eat or drink from the first sign of dawn until sunset. It is a time of self-examination and religious devotion.

International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers (UN)
Created to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the United Nations Peacekeeping operations.
May 31
First Day of Shavuot
Shavuot marks the conclusion of the period of seven weeks that follows Pesaḥ. Shavuot commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Israelites and the completion of God’s purpose to create a special people. It is celebrated for two days in the diaspora and for one day in Israel and among Reform Jews.
