POSITION: PART-TIME ACADEMIC INSTRUCTORS

Lecturer for NURS5620.06W: Advance Practice Role Practicum (Winter term of the academic year 2017-2018)
This course provides the student with the opportunity to integrate, synthesize and analyze previously developed knowledge and skills in an intensive clinical practice experience directly related to the student's chosen client population/discipline in an advanced nursing practice role.. Practice settings will offer experiences with clients from diverse populations experiencing acute and chronic illness states with multiple and complex care needs. These will be used to consolidate skill development related to the comprehensive management of clients' needs across the continuum of health. These include advanced skills related to health assessment, diagnostic testing and treatment planning with emphasis on systems thinking, developmental issues and collaboration with clients, families, communities and other healthcare professionals. The student will work closely with a clinical preceptor negotiated by the student and professor. While implementing the advanced practice role, students will consider the organizational, political and healthcare policy related issues that relate to advanced nursing practice and change in healthcare delivery that affect role development and implementation.
This course is from January 8, 2018 until April 6, 2018. This contract runs from January 1, 2018 through April 30, 2018. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
- Delivery and co-ordination of the course
- Assessment and evaluation of student learning
- Use of Brightspace for course delivery
- Responding to student queries about coursework
- Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services
- Participation in course discussions within the program
- Develop and administer examinations
- Submission of grades
- Follow up with students as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience. PhD preferred.

Lecturer for NURS5200.03W: Health Care System Policy Analysis (Winter term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Health policy can be defined as “a set of interrelated decisions, taken by authorities, concerning the selection of goals and the means of achieving them” (as defined in A Code of Good Practice on Policy Dialogue). This seminar course examines critical issues and trends affecting health policy in addition to the management practices of healthcare delivery services in Canada. Students engage in analytical debate while drawing on the assigned readings, other research, and their own clinical experience. Discussions incorporate historical and global perspectives as well as a range of influencing factors to understand, test, challenge, and contrast the effectiveness of current health policy in relation to the healthcare system in Canada.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 3 lecture hours per week on Tuesdays, 17:35 – 20:25, from January 8, 2018 until April 6, 2018. This contract runs from January 1, 2018 through April 30, 2018. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies.
