TERM:                         January 7, 2019 – April 5, 2019

PAY RATE:ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý  According to CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý The part-time academic instructor will be responsible for teaching NURS5734.03 – Principles of Pharmacotherapy for Nurse Practitioners during the Winter term of the academic year 2018-2019.

This course focuses on core principles of pharmacotherapy relevant to all nurse practitioner practice. Pharmacotherapeutic problem solving approaches will be introduced and applied throughout the course. Effective and strategic use of drug and therapeutic information resources will be emphasized. Relevant issues to pharmacotherapeutic policy will be addressed. Principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics will be introduced and integrated throughout therapeutic content areas. Legal and ethical responsibilities related to prescriptive authority and pharmacotherapeutic interventions will be addressed.

This is a 3-credit hour course consisting of 3 lecture hours per week held Thursdays from 1605 - 1855, from January 7, 2019 until April 5, 2019.

This contract runs from January 1, 2019 through April 30, 2019. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
  • Delivery and co-ordination of the course
  • Assessment and evaluation of student learning
  • Use of the course management system (Brightspace) for course delivery
  • Responding to student queries about coursework
  • Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning services
  • Participation in course discussions within the program
  • Develop and administer examinations
  • Submission of grades
  • Follow up with students as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience. PhD preferred.
