PAY RATE:   Half-class stipend, according to C.U.P.E. agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT

To teach one section of English 3002.03 Contemporary Critical Theory in the Fall term of the 2019-2020 academic year, currently scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday 13:05-14:25. The class will meet for three hours each week. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation. The part-time academic should also be available for two hours per week for consultation with students. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in English, or be in the final stages of a Ph.D. program, or possess other academic and/or professional qualifications deemed suitable for teaching the class. Previous university-level teaching will be an asset.

All applications should include a curriculum vitae, two confidential letters of reference and evidence of teaching effectiveness. For each part-time academic the Chair will conduct an annual assessment of teaching performance, based on student ratings of instruction and may also include classroom observation, conducted either by the Chair or a representative from the Centre for Learning and Teaching with reasonable advance notice.
