DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:Ìý Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Primarily LSC-2012 (GIS Teaching Lab).
PAY RATE:Ìý According to CUPE Agreement Local 3912
WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý Teaching Assistants will be responsible for assisting the primary instructor in teaching the laboratory component of ERTH / ENVS / GEOG 3500: Geoscience Information Management. Primary duties include supervising laboratory sessions and grading student lab submissions. The Teaching Assistant reports directly to the instructor of ERTH / ENVS / GEOG 3500 (Dr. Christopher Greene). Successful applicants for the TA110 positions will each be responsible for supervising two of four afternoon laboratory sessions per week (lab sections are scheduled 2:35-5:25 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays; and 1:35 to 4:25 on Fridays) from September 3rd, 2019 to December 3rd, 2019. Applicants will be expected to assist in marking student submissions in the week following the final lab session (December 3rd to December 6th, 2019).
REQUIREMENTS: Teaching Assistant must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree with demonstrable experience with Geographic Information Systems software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI online environment). Experience managing both vector and raster data, including remote sensing imagery would be an asset. The Teaching Assistant must be reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic about the position.
