Instructor Postings ‑ School of Occupational Therapy

Applications are invited for one Limited Term Position (0.5 FTE) at the Instructor level in the School of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Health starting September 1, 2019 (pending budgetary approval). This is an academic position that encompasses primarily teaching and administration. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a fixed term position of 10 months with no expectation for renewal.

This instructor must hold a Master in Occupational Therapy and be eligible for licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. Demonstrated ability to teach in the enabling competencies in occupational therapy is essential. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional practice teaching experience which can include tutoring and the supervision of occupational therapy fieldwork students. Demonstrated ability to develop courses, coordinate labs, tutor and teach using online, face-to-face and simulation techniques and conduct student evaluations is required, as are demonstrated exceptional time management and course preparation skills; effective oral and written communication skills; leadership skills; and the ability to take initiative, be flexible and work independently. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and student learning, and demonstrated ability to teach in interprofessional education and in bachelor’s courses.

It is preferred that the instructor have a PhD or EdD, and be familiar with occupational therapy education and accreditation requirements. It is preferred that the instructor demonstrates a willingness to establish and maintain involvement in scholarly and professional activities and be dedicated to excellence and innovation in curriculum delivery.

Demonstrated ability to develop courses, coordinate labs, tutor and teach using online, face-to-face and simulation techniques and conduct student evaluations is required, as are demonstrated exceptional time management and course preparation skills; effective oral and written communication skills; leadership skills; and the ability to take initiative, be flexible and work independently. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and student learning, and demonstrated ability to teach in interprofessional education, bachelor’s courses and in the Master of Science (Post Professional).
