Join us Friday, September 20th to record all the species we can find on AV¾ãÀÖ²¿'s Studley Campus. The Agricultural Campus in Truro will also be bioblitzing with us in tandem.
All are welcome, regardless of your species knowledge. Come by yourself, in pairs, or with a group of your friends! Join one of our naturalist leaders and learn about the biodiversity we share our campus with. You may sign up for one or more of the available time slots and then select the zone or specialty once you register on the day of the event.
Time slots will last approx 1.5 hours and will have leaders to point out target organisms. A few specialized events are below:
7:30-8:30am, Early morning birding event (All Zones)
10:00-11:30am, Bill Freedman Native Plant Collection
12:15-1 pm Urban Nature Walk
8:00-9:00pm, Late night bugging event (Dal main courtyard). A sheet will be set up with lights to attract bugs.
All-Day, Sweep-netting events (Zones 1, 2, 3, and 5 – sign-up for a zone at the registration table)
FAQs
On the day of the event, where do I go?
The registration table will be located in the LSC third floor above the Tim Hortons and outside the Killam Library. Visit either table 10 min before you session start time and BioBlitz volunteers will help you get set-up and direct you to your zone.
What should I bring?
Just yourself and your mobile device are all that are needed! We will be using a free app called iNaturalist to snap photos of, and record species observations. Support will be available to help you navigate the system. Download the iNaturalist app ahead of time if possible.
Who do I contact with any questions?
If you have any questions, please email Susan Gass (susan.gass@dal.ca); Lara Gibson (ldgibson@dal.ca); or Amy Mui (amy.mui@dal.ca)
