First-year Chemistry Instructor
The Department of Chemistry at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ invites applications for a 10-month limited term instructor.Ìý
Appointment term: Sept 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021.
Duties: The primary responsibilities of this position are coordination and delivery of 1st year (introductory) chemistry courses, including course instruction, online delivery of course material, all aspects of grading and evaluation, curriculum development, class administration and organization. Other responsibilities include advising of students, academic administration, professional development, and outreach and community service.Ìý
This position reports to the Dean of Science though the Chair of the Department of Chemistry.Ìý
The position requires a minimum of 2 years in a graduate program, with an advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Chemistry considered an asset. The position also requires a minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience at the university level, including teaching experience at the 1st year chemistry university level in both the lecture and laboratory setting. Experience in online course development and student advising is considered an asset. Familiarity or experience with the following online/technological tools are also considered assets: MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Forms, Bookings, and Teams/Teams Live Events, Brightspace LMS, LON-CAPA Online Homework Platform, and Articulate 360 Storyline. The DFA Collective Agreement, 2017-20, defines total compensation for the position, including salary and benefits. Ìý
