The Mentoring Plus Strategy launches website

Posted by College of Continuing Education on April 1, 2021 in Community Highlights

KENTVILLE/NEW GLASGOW/TRURO A project to connect experienced retirees with people for mentorship now has a new tool to help people learn more about it. The Mentoring Plus Strategys website is now live online providing a place for curious people to learn more about how they can get involved.

Whether youre a retiree with knowledge to share, a business or organization that could benefit from expert advice, or an individual seeking advice or guidance to help build your career or business, The Mentoring Plus Strategy website is a great place to start, says Sacha Brake, The Mentoring Plus Strategy Coordinator for Truro/Colchester. Brake provided leadership for the development of the projects website and is very happy to see the project come to fruition. Were so excited to have this new tool in place to share information about our project which is being piloted in the towns of Kentville, New Glasgow, and Truro and in the counties surrounding them.

The site will also be a place where retirees and seniors can learn about an upcoming free Computer Basics for Seniors training on how to use technology. What the pandemic has taught us is that we need to adapt in order to connect with people from different areas, with different circumstances, and different levels of knowledge around technology, says Brake. This free training is a way for us to level the playing field for retirees who arent entirely comfortable with things like computers, social media, zoom calls, etc.

博勳莽勳喧泭to learn more about The Mentoring Plus Strategy, how the strategy considers retirees a resource to share their stories, experiences, problem-solving approaches with people who could use a boost in their career development or business acumen, including students in high school and post-secondary, and people who are either unemployed or underemployed. The strategy recognizes that now, more than ever, we need to teach adaptability and change management and knowledgeable retirees are a hugely untapped resource, says Gordon Michael, Executive Director. We want more retirees to join us to share their knowledge and our website is a perfect place to start.

The Mentoring Plus Strategy is an initiative led by AV整氈窒's College of Continuing Education in collaboration with community partners. The program officially launched last year with amajor funding announcementin Stellarton, Nova Scotia.
