Part-Time Employment Opportunity: Teaching Assistant in the Contemporary Studies Program

The Contemporary Studies Program at the University of King鈥檚 College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant position for 鈥淪cience and Culture 1: The Discourses of Modernity鈥� (CTMP3001/HSTC3031) in the Fall 2021 Term.

The course examines the intimate connection between 鈥渕odernity鈥� and science, particularly in relation to who and what such a connection implicitly excludes and by considering questions about methodology, truth, objectivity, scientific institutions and cultures. It is the first part of the third-year core class in CSP. Duties include but are not limited to:
鈥� reading course material
鈥� attending lectures (please consult the AV俱乐部 Academic Timetable regarding class time)
鈥� running a weekly one-hour tutorial
鈥� holding office hours and assisting students with assignments
鈥� consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations.

Qualifications and Experience: Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. A Master鈥檚 degree in a Humanities subject is desirable. Graduates with some background in the history and philosophy of science, feminist theory, or postcolonial theory are especially encouraged to apply. Prior TA experience is an asset.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.90 (classification of TA90). The position is conditional on the course鈥檚 final enrollment numbers
