Part-Time Employment Opportunity: Teaching Assistant in the Early Modern Studies Programme

The Early Modern Studies Programme (EMSP) at the University of King’s College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in EMSP 2313.03F (cross-listed as CTMP 2313.03W), “The Vampire”. EMSP/CTMP 2313 is an interdisciplinary course which examines changing ideas of the vampire in the early modern and contemporary periods. The course considers the figure of the vampire as it appears in folklore, philosophy, fiction, poetry, film, and television.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • reading course material
  • marking assignments
  • holding office hours (in person or online)
  • attending lectures and participating in class discussion (Mondays 6:35-9:25 PM)
  • consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates may come from various fields (this is a widely interdisciplinary program) but should have at least an undergraduate degree and marking and/or editing experience. Familiarity with the early modern and contemporary periods will be considered an asset, as will prior TA experience (at the university level).

Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.90 (classification of TA130). Position is conditional on the course’s final enrollment numbers
