TEACHING ASSISTANT/MARKER/DEMONSTRATOR POSTING

DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

TITLE: Integrated Science Program Demonstrator, 45 hours

POSTING DATE: July 21, 2022

APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 27, 2022, or until filled

POSITION: One position: Marker/demonstrator, one term 45 hours

WORK PERIOD: July to December 2022

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Faculty of Science / Integrated Science /

PAY RATE: According to C.U.P.E. agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Support the Integrated Science program (DISP), by assisting DISP Faculty with organizing, building, and maintaining the Brightspace pages for SCIE 1506.09 and SCIE 1507.09. These courses include multiple subjects, delivered through single Brightspace sites: first year Biology, Psychology, Statistics, Earth Science, Writing in Science, Integrated Topics. Coordinate with the DISP Faculty. Attend weekly in-person meetings with DISP Faculty. Tasks in Brightspace will include but will not be limited to building and maintaining the grade book, posting learning resources, creating the overall course structure, building quizzes and assessments with instructor guidance.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Minimum upper-year undergraduate in a science discipline. Previous experience teaching and building courses in Brightspace. Excellent communication and time management. Previous experience working with an interdisciplinary team. Experience teaching in the integrated science program is an asset.
