The Early Modern Studies Program (EMSP) at the University of Kings College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant position for EMSP 2490 (cross-listed as HSTC 2220 & CTMP 2207) Ideas of the Sea & Seafaring: Intercultural Perspectives in the Fall 2022 term. EMSP 2490 is a survey of intercultural ideas of the sea and seafaring from ancient to modern times. Topics include oceanic myths and origin stories, the myth of Atlantis, marine natural history, sea monsters, mermaids, the law and freedom of the sea, Black Atlantic identity, scientific sea voyages, oceanic science fiction, modern sea power, and marine conservation.

Duties include but are not limited to: 泭
- Grading assignments
- Attending lectures (please consult the AV整氈窒 Academic Timetable regarding class time)
- Reading course material
- Holding office hours and assisting students with assignments
- Consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading, and other expectations
Qualifications and Experience: Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. Graduates with some background in early modern studies and/or the history and cultures of the seas and seafaring are especially encouraged to apply. Prior TA experience (at the university level) is also an asset.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.27 (classification of TA130). The position is conditional on the courses final enrollment numbers
