A message from Frank Harvey, Provost and Vice-President Academic...
Dr. Andrew Rau-Chaplin is planning a 6-month administrative leave beginning May 15, 2024. To support Andrew in his preparation for the admin leave, we initiated the appointment process for the Acting Dean position. This is a new process for acting decanal appointments, and the call for expressions of interest elicited applications from a very strong pool of potential candidates.Â
I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Christian Blouin will serve as Acting Dean during Dean Rau-Chaplin’s leave, from May 2024 to November 2024. Â
Christian has been Associate Dean (academic) since 2016. In this role, he has overseen academic program delivery, program design and renewal through unprecedented growth in the number of students, staff, and faculty. Since July 2023, he has taken on the additional role of Institutional Lead (AI Strategy). This role allows him to engage broadly with the AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ community in charting the future within a rapidly changing workplace.
Dr. Blouin and Dean Rau-Chaplin will work with the Faculty in the coming days to confirm an acting Associate Dean Academic while he is serving as Acting Dean.

Frank Harvey
Provost and Vice-President Academic
