Summer Institute on Migration and Identity

Students from both AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ and other universities in Canada and around the world are invited to join us in Halifax for the  from 3rd – 14th June.  Classroom sessions for this for-credit course will take place not just at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ but also at the , which provides an unparalleled learning experience through its exhibits, displays, artifacts and oral history clips.  Specialist instructors will include academics and curators with extensive knowledge of, and expertise in, the field.  Apply now!

This intensive, international course aims to bring together students and researchers from different countries and backgrounds to explore key issues and experiences relating to migration and identity in Europe and Canada.  Using a comparative, multidisciplinary and experiential approach, the institute will combine seminar-style lectures, discussions, case studies, activities and field trips in and beyond Halifax.  A mix of individual and group work will enable students to learn about the fundamental issues as well as examine in more depth a topic of particular interest to them, making the most of the museum's unique setting and collection. The course will be conducted in English and consists of 40 hours of instruction.
