Giving you the practice you need
What is simulation-based learning?
Simulation plays an ever-expanding role in the education of health professionals at all levels.
- It allows efficient technical skill development and refinement without posing any danger or discomfort to patients.
- It is not limited by the availability of appropriate patients.
- It permits learners to receive immediate feedback and to repeat procedures until they are well mastered.
Simulations may involve simulated patients, manikins, or a combination of both.
Learning to work together
Interprofessional simulations involve teams from different professions and focuses on:
- learning about one another's roles in that context,
- communicating effectively with one another and with patients/clients and their families, and
- working together collaboratively in interprofessional healthcare teams, including exercising a leadership role in those teams. 泭
Centre for Collaborative Clinical Learning and Research
The Centre for Collaborative Clinical Learning and Research offers a cutting-edge facility that offers appropriate practice scenarios for different levels of experience and education. Working with simulated patients helps students develop valuable communications skills, diagnostic techniques and patient care experience.
The simulated patient educators (SPEs) at the Centre develop programs to meet specific goals and requirements. If you are interested in setting up a simulation, contact one of our SPEs.
