Majors

Your first two years are dedicated to core courses in accounting, finance, marketing, statistics, and organizational behaviour. In your third and fourth years, you'll choose electives to tailor your degree to your strengths and interests. Choose from one of seven majors below to focus in your area of study, or stay flexible by customizing your degree without a major.

The requirements listed below are for students entering the Bachelor of Commerce Co-op program in September 2020.

For information on requirements in previous years, or to discuss which requirements you should be following, please contact the Undergraduate Advising Office (uao@dal.ca).

Major in Accounting

Learn the judgment and technical skills needed for external financial reporting and developing internal information used for management planning and control. Graduates may pursue careers in the accounting department of a specific company, or in a professional services (public accounting) firm. Accounting majors will often continue their studies after graduation and complete a professional designation (CPA). Courses taken at AV整氈窒 earn exemptions from these professional associations.
