AV¾ãÀÖ²¿

 

AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ is the proponent of the GaSP project, and provides a number of very strong, experienced researchers to the project team in the areas of geology and groundwater quality and tracers, with specific experience in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. ÌýThe university manages and coordinates the project, including Technical Service Agreement subcontracts with the other participating institutions, and project reporting.

Grant Wach

Grant Wach, Ph.D. is a Professor of Petroleum Geoscience. A specialist in Reservoir Characterization and Stratigraphy, his interest in complex oil reservoirs began at Syncrude, in the oil sands of Alberta. Prior to his work at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, he was with Exxon and was Geoscience Research Associate at Texaco involved with exploration and commercialization around the globe.Ìý

Owen Sherwood

Owen Sherwood, Ph.D. will join AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Earth Sciences in July 2017. Currently he is a Faculty Research Associate at the University of Colorado. Prior to that he spent four years in the petroleum industry with Imperial Oil (Calgary, Alberta) and DIG (Boulder, Colorado), a geochemistry consulting firm specializing in isotopic tracer analysis. He is the author of 27 refereed publications (including in Nature, Science, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences).

Tom Martel

Tom Martel, Ph.D. is an Adjunct in AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ Earth Sciences. His varied career has taken him to TransCanada Pipeline Ltd, the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources, St. Francis Xavier University, Oxford University, AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, and he most recently joined Corridor Resources Inc. as Chief Geologist in April 1998.

Elliot McLauchlan

Elliot is a graduate of AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ B.Sc (Hons) Earth Science majoring in Geology (2016), and Master’s Candidate for the Fall of 2017.Ìý Elliot has worked with the BC Oil and Gas Commission as a summer student monitoring Natural Gas Well-sites, as well as with Peter E. Walcott and Associates as a Geophysical Surveyor in Northern BC. Recently Elliot has completed a project with the GSC-Atlantic digitizing legacy marine seismic records in the Great Lakes Basin, and joins the GaSP Team as a Research Assistant for the Summer of 2017.

Fiona Henderson

Fiona is a recent graduate of AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, completing a B.Sc (Hons), with a double major in Earth Science and Sustainability. She has worked as an Intern for a Base Metal Analyst with the Equity Research Department at Scotiabank (2014) and worked with Professor Grant Wach at the Basin and Reservoir Lab as a Research Assistant, creating 1D PetroMod models of wells offshore Newfoundland. Fiona also assisted coordinating meeting logistics and provided reporting services for the GASP workshop (2016). Ìý
