AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ the Organization
The ACTing Collectively team includes researchers, community partners and agencies working together to establish a provincial system of gathering, storing and using community-level data that will support older Nova Scotians to live in place for as long as they wish. Collaborating across sectors and disciplines, the team is using an internationally recognized platform to gather and aggregate data that will inform how communities provide services that support aging in place.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the Research Coordinator/Project Manager will work as part of a team, working closely with the Principal Investigators, team members, and trainees to ensure timely and high-quality results. The Research Coordinator/Project Manager will take primary responsibility for project coordination and management, and communications, and will set and manage project and team meetings, support municipalities to map local resources, and assist with the program evaluation and integrated knowledge transfer (iKT) strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the research study.
  • Actively engage with, and act as the primary project liaison to, 3 project communities in Cape Breton and all project partners.
  • Support research project activities such as assisting with the recruitment of older adults, creating data collection templates, and data collection.
  • Track project milestones, ensuring coordination and completion of project tasks and activities.
  • Manage project finances and budget, including required reports to funding agencies. Manage HR administration as well.
  • Review and edit documents, ensuring high quality of scientific and lay language as required.

Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required at times to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in health, social science, management or a relevant field with a minimum of 1 year of related research experience is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Superb verbal and written communication skills in English are required. Proficiency using Microsoft applications, including Excel, is required. Demonstrated previous collaborative experience with multidisciplinary teams strongly preferred. Proven project management experience is required. Knowledge of online survey platforms, qualitative interviewing, and health services research are strong assets. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to take initiative, act resourcefully, and think creatively to solve complex problems. Commitment to ethical conduct, including the ability to manage records, respecting the privacy and confidentiality of research participants, is required. Background in health, community development, or aging in place research is an asset. Familiarity with use of social media, including Facebook and Twitter in a research context is an asset.
