Health Promotion courses

Learning to build healthier communities

One full academic year
(12 months) of resident study at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿ is the minimum requirement for the one-year MA Health Promotion degree. However, students should expect to take from 18 to 24 months of full-time work to complete the degree. Ordinarily, for full-time students, the degree must be completed within four years of first registration.

You may also choose to complete the degree through part-time study. However, financial assistance is not available for part-time students.

A total of five credits (30 credit hours) at the graduate level are required: 18 credit hours of courses plus 12 credit hours of thesis work. Electives may be chosen from the lists of courses below, from graduate courses offered by other departments at AV¾ãÀÖ²¿, or, to a limited extent, at other universities.

You may take a maximum of 6 credit hours of ancillary courses above and beyond the required program of study.

NOTE: Full-time students are expected to complete all course work in the first year of study. Students must register for the thesis component of the program in the spring/summer term of the first year and in each subsequent term until the thesis is successfully completed.
