The School of Health Sciences offers a fully integrated Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) degree program. Explore our four health professional disciplines:

In addition to the four-year degree program, experienced practitioners in the above disciplines (plus Medical Laboratory Technology) may be eligible to complete the degree in a two-year post diploma format.泭

Our graduates are nationally certified

Our students have the necessary competencies to write professional certification examinations at the end of their third year (Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound and Respiratory Therapy) or fourth year (for Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiological Technology). Students who are eligible and choose to graduate from the program after three years will receive a Diploma in Health Science.

Learn hands-on in small classes

You'll work with the latest medical technology in the Maritimes' largest health-care facility, alongside some of the best medical professionals in the country. Core courses in the BHSc program include:

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology
  • Introduction to Health Professional Practice
  • Health Care Ethics
  • Statistics
  • Introduction to Health Research
  • Leadership in Health Care
  • Health Professional Education
  • Critical Research Evaluation


There is a 6-to-8 consecutive week clinical practicum between May and August of Year 1, 2, and 3.
The senior year of the BHSc provides enhanced flexibility for students through several on-line and individually supervised course offerings.

Michelle MacMillan (BHSc'09 - Radiological Technology)

Michelle MacMillan got her BHSc in Radiological Technology, worked as an X-ray technologist, and then decided she wanted a change. Using contacts she made during her time working in the field, she landed a job as a clinical education specialist for Philips Healthcare. She now travels to hospitals throughout North America to teach medical professionals how to use the company's cardiovascular X-ray equipment
